Useful Information by Yvonne Doney

This page is intended to answer any questions you might have about me, my jewellery, and using the site. If you cannot find the information you want here, or if you require any further help (such as having detailed photographs of an item sent to you), then please e-mail me: yvonne@yvonnedoneyjewellery.co.uk

About me

I live in the beautiful South West of England, in Devon, and have been making precious metal jewellery for about seven years, having done a one-year accredited course as well as several short courses. I particularly enjoy the forming of the metal to obtain the different textures and appearances that you see in my work, and am constantly experimenting in this regard.

About the jewellery

I use precious metal (usually sterling silver) in all the jewellery I make, and have my own maker's hallmark registered with the Birmingham Assay Office, where pieces over 7 grams (approximately) in weight are assayed and stamped with both my mark and the Assay Office's mark. This protects the buyer, as it is illegal to describe any item for sale weighing more than about 7 grams as being made of a precious metal (even if it is) if the item has not been marked with an Assay Office's mark (for example, the Birmingham Assay Office's mark is an anchor, and the London Assay Office's mark is a leopard's head). All pieces are designed and handmade by me, which means that each item I make starts from a piece of sterling silver sheet metal, and/or sterling silver wire, and the design is copyright protected. Almost nothing is 'bought in' ready made (I confess that I am not so much of a purist as to make the butterfly backs for stud earrings, though!), and I never make more than one item of a particular design, so each item is unique.

The stones and beads that I use are from reputable suppliers and ethically sourced (for example, any coral in my jewellery is mined on land, not taken from reefs), and, unless otherwise stated, are all classed as semi-precious. Many are in their natural, untreated state.

Using the site

I have tried to design the site to be user-friendly, with links from the home page to all other pages, from each page to any of the others, and from particular items on one page to another item on another page (for example, if there is a pair of earrings that matches or complements a particular necklace, then there will be a link from that necklace to the earrings, and vice versa). If, however, you would like to see any improvement to the site, please do let me know and I will do my best to implement it.

If you wish to buy something

If you would like to buy something, you can use the Buy Now button associated with each item. This will take you to PayPal's secure website, where you can pay with a credit or debit card, or by transfer from your bank account. You do not need a PayPal account to use any of these methods of paying. Alternatively, if you wish to pay by some other method, such as by cheque, please e-mail me: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Delivery

Once you have chosen and paid for your item, it will be sent to you, securely packaged, by Royal Mail Special Delivery (i.e., signed for) within three business days of payment being received or cleared.

Returns policy

If any item purchased arrives damaged in transit, you will receive a full refund of the purchase price if you inform me immediately, and return the item, together with any damaged packaging, securely wrapped. You may also return any item within 14 days of receipt if it is found to be faulty, and either the item will be replaced, if that is possible, or you may request a full refund of the purchase price. Items can be returned for any reason up to 7 days after receipt, with the exception of earrings (for hygiene reasons) and commissioned items, and the purchase price minus 10% for administration costs will be refunded. Postage costs remain your responsibility. These conditions do not affect your statutory rights.
